Expert analysis from the TechTeam
The TechTeam analyses the outstanding performance of a Golden Slipper hopeful In Australia as well as The Centenary Sprint Cup from Hong Kong.
AUSTRALIA
Race 1 at Randwick on Saturday saw the emergence of potentially the major contender for this year’s Golden Slipper at Rosehill, namely Switzerland.
We cannot be neutral about this fellow’s performance as he ran the fastest individual 200-meter sectional and the second fastest 400m sectional on the day, a feat for a 2yo having his first start in a race.
Switzerland achieved a TechTeam time rating of 123 and we project that he will reach 133 as a 2yo, the equal of the figure that Storm Boy ran in the Magic Millions in January.
HONG KONG
The Centenary Sprint Cup run over 1200m on Sunday ran slower time than the Class 3 event that preceded it!
Of course the result of the race was purely pace related as Victor The Winner “stole” the event running the first 600m, in a jog, at 35.99 and flying home in 33.44, thereby setting the backmarkers an impossible task.
For the favourite Lucky Sweynesse to have finished first he would have had to run faster than 32.48 an impossible task. Assigning time ratings here is not reasonable given the slow pace of the race. A final note, Lucky Sweynesse must go up in trip from here on in. If he can return to his solid TechTeam time rating of 131 he is only 2 pounds less than the great Golden Sixty at 133, a mouth watering contest given that the age of the champ may come into play.
More from the TechTeam next Tuesday and watch out for our TechTeam tips this weekend!
