BRINGING ASIAN RACING TO THE WORLD
Little Paradise is set to go one better in Sunday's BMW Hong Kong Derby after being severely inconvenienced in last start's prelude, with the Tech Team rating him a clear top pick at value odds.
Readers of the Asian Racing Report will note that in the Derby prelude, Little Paradise, our strong selection for the event, was severely inconvenienced in the run and rider C. Y. Ho was unable to extricate him in time to make a winning run. The race was duly won by Stormy Grove, who meets Little Paradise again in Sunday’s Derby.
It is clear from the Tech Team’s figures that Little Paradise will win the Derby if he receives an uninterrupted passage. On our figures, if (a) Little Paradise enjoys a more fortuitous trip and (b) stays the 2000-metre Derby distance, he will win by approximately 2.7 lengths — though these are big “ifs.”
Below are the Tech Team Ratings for Sunday’s race:
On the undercard, we favour Race 3’s #9 Circuit Champion, who should secure a comfortable run behind the likely leader, #2 Ka Ying Attack. In Race 6, #4 Hot Delight attempts his threepeat, which our figures suggest he will achieve despite his 12 point penalty from the handicapper, as he looks destined for Class 1 or higher. In Race 8, #6 Smart Avenue is knocking on the door.
