BRINGING ASIAN RACING TO THE WORLD
Saturday's Hanshin meeting saw Naosuke Sugai's Quick Bio emerge as a possible stakes performer, while on Sunday a daughter of Satono Diamond dazzled with an all-the-way Newcomer win.
Bricks And Mortar two-year-old Quick Bio has shown good improvement at all three outings and maintained her upward spiral with a stylish effort at Hanshin on Saturday.
Continuing to benefit from drops in distance after initially being debuted over 1800m, Naosuke Sugai’s filly was sent out the 3.5 second elect on the back of a comfortable last-start maiden win.
Travelling sweetly for Yuga Kawada in the small field, Quick Bio sat third before challenging strongly in the straight, having enough in reserve to hold off the fast-finishing Epiphaneia filly Scent Memories, who may also be one to follow.
“Her focusing is better than last time,” said Kawada, who also rode the filly when a two-length winner in a Sapporo maiden on August 27, and when comfortably beaten in a Hanshin Newcomer back in June. “That’s why she performed well today.”
The Paris Match showed some serious professionalism on debut at Hanshin on Sunday, jumping straight to the front when the gates opened and showing her Newcomer rivals a clean pair of heels thereafter.

The Satono Diamond two-year-old and jockey Kohei Matsuyama controlled the tempo in front before accelerating strongly in the straight in a performance that suggests the filly can figure in some better quality distance races.
Prepared by Taiki Chaki, The Paris Match is out of the Group 3-placed American mare Long Hot Summer, herself a daughter of Street Boss.
“Her step is large and that’s why I tried to let her keep her rhythm in the race,” said Matsuyama. “She performed very well,”
